A tourist cartoon promoting Greece will officially launch the long-awaited Animasyros International Animation Festival which starts on September 20 on the island of Syrosand welcomes the best in the field.
The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) said the new animated promotional video, which showcases Greece as an ever-evolving sustainable destination, will debut at Animasyros 2022.
“We are proud to support Animasyros, a unique celebration that connects people, cultures and creators while promoting Greece abroad,” said the GNTO Secretary General. Dimitris Fragakis.
Fragakis referenced the GNTO’s participation in Animasyros last year, which he said was a milestone. “For the first time in history, Greek Tourism, with the help of the creative team of the festival, has acquired the first promotional video campaign aimed at children and their parents”.
The GNTO Secretary General said the event contributes significantly to the promotion of Greece and serves as a meeting point for animation professionals and enthusiasts to exchange views, expand their network and promote their work. .
In his 15e year, Animasyros is the largest international animation festival in Greece and among the top 20 of its kind in Europe.
This year, it will present more than 200 films by artists from 43 countries and includes eight competition sections (international, student, K.id.s, AnimaPride, national competition, television and commissioned films, feature films and EU values ), special tributes, educational workshops, international collaborations and the annual Agora, which serves as a networking point for animation artists from the Eastern Mediterranean and which this year, in collaboration with the French NEF Animation , will organize round tables, workshops, masterclasses and meetings.
The annual celebration of animation will continue until September 25 and is jointly organized by the Municipality of Syros-Ermoupolis, the South Aegean Region and Platforma-Urban Culture Co, “powered” by the Public Power Corporation of Greece, with the support of the GNTO.
This year’s workshops will be dedicated to remembrance of the 100 years of the Asia Minor Catastrophe.
The festival opens at 8 p.m. on September 22 at the Apollo Theater with the presentation of the new animated GNTO promotional video produced by Animasyros.
Access to events in Ermoupolis, Ano Syros, Vari, Poseidonia and Finikas is free.
