Disney + and Walt Disney Animation Studios are back with the second season of Short Circuit Experimental Films, which kicks off today, August 4, 2021.
Short circuit is the innovative and experimental short film program from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Anyone in the studio can pitch an idea and potentially have it selected and then created. This experimental program is celebrating its fifth year since its inception. With this milestone, five new short films are released. These shorts come from different departments of Walt Disney Animation Studios and feature very different styles of animation and storytelling.
Short Circuit Experimental Films Season two titles include:
– Barbarian dinosaur: directed by Kim Hazel
Fighting evil is a day’s work for Dinosaur Barbarian, but what about taking out the trash? Sometimes even a superhero needs to clean up their act.
– Go home: directed by Jacob Frey
A story about growth and the meaning of home in which a young adult repeatedly visits his hometown, but with each new arrival he begins to face the inevitable: change.
– Crosswalk: directed by Ryan Green
A law-abiding citizen must find their inner strength to cross the street at a traffic light that will not change.
– Songs to sing in the dark: directed by Riannon Delanoy
Two creatures living in the depths of a dark cave engage in a battle of acoustic one-upmanship. As things get worse, they realize that they are stronger together.
– N ° 2 in Kettering: directed by Liza Rhéa
One dreary and ordinary morning, a girl learns how the power of laughter can lift up even the sullest of her bus mates on their journey to Kettering.
“Each [director] had a personal connection to their short film, and it was a great starting point, âsaid Short circuit production manager Jennifer Newfield. “It gave them a clear direction and a commitment to the story.”
Ryan green (Crosswalk) imagined his ancestors pressing him instead of waiting for the light to change; Kim Hazel (Barbarian dinosaur) channeled his obsession with ’80s cartoons and their themed songs; Jacob Frey (Go home) faced with his fear of losing his parents; Liza Rhea (N ° 2 in Kettering) brought to life a bittersweet childhood memory; and Riannon Delanoy (Songs to sing in the dark) drew on his parents’ experience as scientific researchers and his own interest in evolutionary biology.
Short Circuit Experimental Films the first season had 14 episodes and premiered in January 2020. The second season airs August 4 on Disney +.
