Jessica Gao revealed that despite ending She-Hulk’s run with several big cameos, there’s one person she regrets not including.
The end of She-Hulk: Lawyer delivered a number of cameos, even bringing in Wong one more time for good measure, but there’s one person who created Jessica Gao regret not having it at the end of the show. Over the course of the nine-episode run, there was one character that instantly caught the audience’s attention and that was a certain fun party girl by the name of Madisynn, played by the endearing Patty Guggenheim, and her absence from the finale. was the only thing that could have potentially been added to the already stacked lineup.
She-Hulk The final episode ended what has been an enjoyable series for those who weren’t expecting the usual Marvel fare. Although there were plenty of cameos, easter eggs, teasing for the future, and epic battles, She-Hulk had an ulterior motive, which was to counter a number of Marvel trends. While that included not ending in an epic final showdown, the latest episode of She-Hulk run delivered the kind of meta-humor her comics are known for as well as a slew of cameos, but Gao confessed she was disappointed she didn’t have Madisynn in the frame. She said Variety:
“[Marvel Studios President] Kevin [Feige] was very specific about Skaar, so I’m sure there’s a plan for the future, although I have no idea what that might be. We all knew Daredevil had to come back because people love him and their chemistry is so good. I only wish Patty Guggenheim as Madisynn came back in the finale. It is my great regret.”
She-Hulk Has Set Up A Number Of Marvel Teases For The Future
During the series, She-Hulk: Lawyer threw up plenty of winking teases and misses you for plenty of future Marvel projects, including the passing mention of Wolverine. For the finale, the last reel packed many more such moments, such as the arrival of Skaar, more Daredevil, and in the post-credits scene, Wong once again broke Emil Blonsky out of his prison. to take him to Kamar-Taj. All of this, and the large number of minor Marvel characters that have appeared over the course of the series, gave She-Hulk felt like the team had been given the keys to the toy box and told to go have fun.
Regardless of the complaints that have been made about She-Hulk, the series has consistently chimed in against social media’s often toxic comments about not just Marvel, but the shows and movies in general. Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters ability to speak directly to viewers is definitely something that helped the show get its point across. What we will see She-Hulk returning in a second season still seems up in the air, with Gao and Maslany refusing to get too caught up in whether another season has been discussed. However, breaking with the norm, She-Hulk was a breath of fresh air and another one of Marvel’s experimental Disney+ shows that continued to take the MCU down different avenues.
