Shinzo Katayama’s ‘Missing’ to Open in Theaters Ahead of On-Demand Release

Synopsis: Depressed and in debt over the death of his wife, Santoshi (Jiro Sato) tells his young daughter that he has found a way out. Showing a reward note, he vows to find the infamous serial killer “No Name” (Hiroya Shimizu) and cash in, claiming to have seen the man in the flesh days earlier. Kaeda (Aoi Ito) can’t take her distant father seriously. But when he disappears without a trace, she begins to fear the worst and must start looking for him.

After working as an assistant director on Japanese films, notably on works by Nobuhiro Yamashita, filmmaker Shinzô Katayama crossed paths with Bong Joon-Ho on the set of “TOKYO!(2008) and was his assistant director onMother(2009). In 2019, his first feature film, “Cape Siblings ” has been selected by numerous national and international film festivals. He is now one of Japan’s most promising emerging directors, and his second feature film, MISSING (“Sagasu /さがす”) will be his first commercial film.

MISSING will hit theaters in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Cleveland and major cities on November 4, 2022. An on-demand release will follow on November 18, 2022, and the film’s Blu-Ray release will take place in December. 6, 2022 via Dark Star Pictures.
