The Minister of Information and Public Relations, LN Sharma, announced that the second edition of the âSikkim Global Film Festivalâ will be held from December 10 to 14.
In addition to film screenings and the participation of filmmakers from all over the world, the festival will also be a meeting platform between producers and investors, a fashion show, a cultural exhibition, artistic performances and recognitions, Pooja Sharma, president of the “Sikkim Film Promotion Board,” told reporters at a press conference held at the Old Sikkim House here. The event was also attended by Birendra Tamling, adviser of the Department of Information and Public Relations.
Pooja Sharma said entries were open in five categories – “Feature Film Screening”, “Tribal and Regional Film Competition“, “Short Film Competition”, “One-Minute Video Competition – Theme: World Peace” and â5 Minute Video Contest – Fighting the Pandemicâ.
For film submissions, interested parties can log on to www.sikkimfilmboard.org until November 15th.
All films entering the competitive categories must have English subtitles. Films not certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) may also be submitted and the length of the short films must not exceed 30 minutes.
To encourage filmmakers to make films in the state, the Sikkim government led by Prem Singh Tamang would provide a grant of Rs 20 lakhs in cash and in kind to local filmmakers and a grant of Rs 1 crore in cash and in kind would be granted to national filmmakers, added the president.
